If you’re overweight and looking to lose those extra pounds, be kind to yourself and do it the healthy way. Fast weight loss plans may work, but it has been proven this is simply a short term solution. Here are three simple, easy to follow ways to assist in permanent weight loss.

By John Tracko

Are you suffering from being overweight? Do you feel embarrassed when you go to the pool or the beach? Do you want to just get rid of all of that disgusting fat? If you do, read on for some awesome weight control tips!

Weight control is actually rather easy to implement into your life. A few simple weight control tips below will aid you in getting the body that you’ve been yearning to have for as long as you can remember!

1. Eliminate fast food. You know it’s bad for you, so take it seriously and rid fast food of your diet. Go to your local supermarket and pick out your favorite vegetables and get some whole grain bread along with low sodium turkey, and start making great tasting homemade, and healthy, turkey sandwiches.

2. Don’t have enough time to make food at home? Go to Subway. While eating a subway only diet won’t likely give you results, it certainly won’t increase your weight. If you want to go on a Subway diet, be sure to exercise at least 5 times a week.

3. Stop drinking soda, alcohol, or high sugar drinks. Contrary to popular belief, Gatorade is not good for weight loss because of its high sugar content. It’s good for energy, but not weight loss. Instead, get Crystal Light lemonade at a major store near you, or get your favorite juice, like orange juice or raspberry juice. Those taste great, and they are extremely healthy for you.

Those 3 weight control tips should get you off to a great start for controlling your weight. Many people don’t realize the many things they can do to start controlling weight.

However, if you wish to really get a grip on controlling your weight or getting rid of any excess weight, you should check out this amazing guide now!. Many cultures equate a healthy head of hair with virility and vigor. Hair loss is the result of hereditary patterns, hormonal changes in the body, medications, chemical treatments, over-styling or simply from poor nutrition. Although there are prescription medications that help regrow hair, some people suffering from hair loss prefer to avoid the side effects and medical risks of these medications. Topical applications and ingestion of healing herbs offer a safe and effective alternative to promote hair regrowth.

Rosemary

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), a fragrant evergreen herb native to the Mediterranean, has been used for centuries to combat thinning hair. Leaves of the plant, either fresh or dried, are simmered in boiling water to create an infusion used to rinse the scalp. Dry, brittle hair will benefit from a massage of warm olive oil and rosemary. Place fresh rosemary in a jar, cover with olive oil and allow to blend for several days. Warm the mixture and rub on the scalp. Use weekly to encourage healthy hair regrowth.

Saw Palmetto

Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) has a long history of usage in the battle against hair loss. Saw palmetto may provide benefits similar to hair-loss drugs such as Propecia. Research indicates that saw palmetto prevents binding of DHT, the male hormone, to androgen receptors in the hair follicle. DHT is one of the main causes of hair thinning in both women and men. The red berries of the the saw palmetto are available in many forms, including dried or ground berries. Saw palmetto is also available as capsules, liquid extract or tea. Ointment made from Saw palmetto is prescribed by herbal practitioners to calm irritations of the scalp and skin. Massage the ointment into the scalp and leave on overnight. If applied before shampooing, leave on at least one hour before washing the scalp. (Resource 1) Women on hormone therapy or oral contraceptives should not take Saw Palmetto.

Lavender

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia or Lavandula officinalis), a common garden herb, has strong anti-inflammatory effects and is useful in treating Alopecia. In addition, lavender imbues hair with a delightful fragrance, enhanced shine and adds considerable volume. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to shampoos and conditioners. Fresh sprigs of lavender, simmered in water, make a soothing scalp rinse. Fresh or dried lavender may also be combined with olive oil to provide a stimulating scalp massage treatment.

Burdock

Burdock (Arctium Lappa) root oil extract, also called Bur oil, soothes scalp irritation, as well as reversing hair loss. Traditionally Bur oil was used as a daily scalp and hair oil to relieve the symptoms of dandruff and scalp infections. Burdock supplies natural phytosterols and important essential fatty acids to hair roots which improves hair strength, shine and volume.

Rehmannia

Rehmannia (Rehmannia glutinosa), also known as Chinese foxglove, di-huang, shu di-huang or disui is a perennial herb whose pulverized root is a key ingredient in many hair regrowth preparations. Native to Asia, Rehmannia produces an abundance of brilliant flowers ranging in shades of yellow, orange, pink and red. It is planted as an ornamental in gardens across North America. Rehmannia is prescribed to treat hair loss (alopecia), impotence, menopause and other hormone deficiencies.

In a perfect world for health and calorie conscious eaters, restaurants would put the listings on menus like they do on prepared foods in the grocery store. But since they don’t, it’s up to us to figure out the best way to eat healthy while eating outside of home.

By Joy Adams

Healthy restaurant eating is possible and can be much easier than you think. If your schedule has you traveling a lot or opting for take out often, use the ideas below to stick to your healthy meal plans while still enjoying your meal out.

Eating Out Can Be Healthy – Here is my plan of attack whenever I am on vacation, traveling for business or just in a situation that has me ordering out more than I am able to cook.

I do what I call “damage control”: Do the best I can, with what I’ve got and have an awesome time on my trip!

Prepare my “emergency kit”. I will pack and take with me: walnuts, almonds, almond butter, organic turkey and beef jerky, apples and pears. None of these need refrigeration so they will keep well wherever you are. If I’m in a situation where there is no protein handy (like when it’s time for a snack), I’ve got my nuts and jerky to tie me over. If you don’t have something handy, you just may find yourself grabbing pretzels and potato chips (or whatever other horrid food people eat while away).

Breakfast
There is always a protein on the menu, no matter what. Omelets, or smoked salmon are my favorite choices but I’ve even gone to places that now carry turkey bacon and turkey sausage on the menu. Stay away from the heavy and deadly pancakes and waffles. This is a blood sugar disaster waiting to happen. Eating a sugar loaded breakfast like this will only set you up for hunger and cravings the rest of the day. And, just may ruin an otherwise great day.

Lunch and Dinner
I have said this before. Most of us know what is healthy on the menu but we still continue to order the crappy stuff. Yes, I do believe in a treat and a cheat meal once or twice a week, but definitely not every night of your vacation. Some people eat and choose items off the menu like they are being sent to starvation camp when they get home. This is not an “all or nothing” deal. You’ve committed to eating healthy for a lifetime. Don’t worry. The food will always be there whether you eat it all at once or space it out over a lifetime.

Ok, back to my point. First, items on the menu that you know are drenched in heavy sauces are an instant No-No. Fettuccine Alfredo? Come on now. Are you serious? Can you get the steak, veggies and salad instead and be just as happy? Or, the Chicken Cacciatore with a side of broccoli rabe? (Yes, we’re at an Italian restaurant). Often times, our taste buds are really just as happy with a healthier choice. No, this is not deprivation. This is choosing to feel good, be healthy and eat good food at the same time. Comprende?

Desserts
I love desserts too and I will definitely get myself a yummy piece of apple pie or chocolaty treat while I am away. But if the piece of dessert is bigger than the size of my head, I will not eat the whole thing. There is no need. My taste buds are just as happy with a few bites (and my body is happier too). Remember, we’re not going to starvation camp after this. Trust me, there is enough apple pie, chocolate or (insert your favorite dessert here) to have a small amount at a time for the rest of your life.

Around the world, milk thistle is one of the most consistently used botanicals. Not only does milk thistle detoxify the liver, it is said to have great benefit in the circulation and purification of the blood, and helps strengthen the brain and aids memory.

Milk thistle, commonly found growing wild in a variety of settings is an annual or biennial herb growing up to eight feet tall, with rough, spiny-edged leaves marked with milky white veins. Flowers are purple to reddish-violet and grow in solitary globular heads up to two inches across. The dried fruit (also called achenes) is used to produce modern herbal extracts.

Milk Thistle for Detoxification

The liver is responsible for virtually all internal body detoxification. Milk thistle enhances the detoxification process of the liver through its positive effects on toxin-clearing bile flow. Bile carries the harmful toxins that the liver neutralizes to the intestines where they exit the body as waste. Milk thistle also aids in the strengthening of the liver at a cellular level.

Silymarin

Recent scientific studies by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Publication Number 01-E024, indicate that the active ingredients in milk thistle, especially silymarin, are able to protect the liver from damage by the toxic effects of viruses, smoking, alcohol, certain drugs and environmental contaminants. Silymarin, an important bioflaviod, acts as an potent antioxidant, neutralizing harmful free radicals. Milk thistle also boosts an important antioxidant, glutathione, as much as 50 percent.

Since the liver is responsible for virtually all internal body detoxification many medical practitioners advise that you take a supplement to sustain the health of your liver.

Standardized Milk Thistle, enhanced with various herbs is available in capsule form or as a tea.

Super Milk Thistle is a supplement form that has been enhanced with other healing herbals, including Dandelion Root, Licorice, Burdock Root, Cranberry, Artichoke, Turmeric, Beet or Cayenne.

Ancient Treatment

The National Cancer Institute reported that “ the ancient Greeks and Romans used milk thistle as a treatment for liver ailments and snake bites. During the Middle Ages, milk thistle was recommended to treat liver toxins. Modern homeopathic practitioners have used compounds from milk thistle to treat a range of disorders including jaundice, gallstones and peritonitis.”
