I enjoyed my visit to the Kauai Nursery, in search of the elusive red jade vine. The nursery was a delight, thousands of plants, trees and shrubs. However, they did not have red jade vine. Scott, one of the helpful staff, explained that red jade is very difficult to propagate; for every hundred starts in the greenhouse, only about five will flourish and produce a new plant. Another enchanting vine, the blue jade, was also unavailable for the same reason. Kauai Nursery would very much like anyone that has established vines to bring them in some cuttings to propagate.

good article and beautiful photos of the brilliant flowered vines that entangle the island.

The choices of plants was overwhelming. I choose several ferns and coleus. The coleus is in variegated-shades of red, a striking contrast against the emerald green of the various ferns.
