Eden’s Gate
Early morning, checking on the growth of a new orchid. I hope it will flower during my stay.
In an earlier post I wrote about “Carol Ann’s Garden”; it is a continual source of pleasure and healing peace.
Wrapped in it’s lush greenery, I find renewal, a refreshing flow of energy and a comforting sense of calm and grounding. This special garden is, for me, “Eden’s Gate”, a portal to a mysterious halcyon hill scape. I am enthralled with the grandeur of this magical place. It is a joy to make the acquaintance of the spirits that guard the “gate”.
New additions to the garden.
New plantings to the right of the garden gate. Established plants of yellow day lilies, white ginger, maidenhair ferns and white lilies. I had a fun time improving the soil with chicken manure, compost and potting soil, then planting seeds for an medicinal herb garden. The new seedlings include sweet sage, feverfew, sweet chives, garlic chives, spearmint and beet berry. Here in the tropics, these plants will spread and grow as perennials, adding color and enchantment to the garden for years to come.
Found this interesting vine shown below at the local farmer’s market. I do not know it’s name. When I planted it by the garden gate, I thought the pink blooms were so delicate and lovely. This morning when I looked at it again, I discovered that from within the pink bloom, another flower unfolded. Quite a striking contrast, the brilliant red against the pink back ground. I was told that it will grow very quickly and I believe it will be a fine accent to vine up the tree and along the garden fence.
With pink bloom only.
In full bloom.
